About Us
Originally scheduled to open our doors in March 2020, our plans were thwarted by the onset of the first COVID-19 lockdown. Undeterred, we persevered and successfully reopened from July to November 2020, only to face yet another closure due to the second lockdown. Remarkably, even amidst these challenging times, we had already cultivated a dedicated customer base. Fostering a sense of community during the lockdown, we organized engaging Zoom quiz nights and introduced our exclusive 'Lockdown Gin And Bear It.'
After enduring the trials of the pandemic, we triumphantly reopened our doors in May 2021 and have been proudly serving our patrons ever since. Our resilience echoes the sentiment that you can't keep a good pub down!
In the esteemed Surrey Hants Borders CAMRA awards of 2022, our establishment earned the prestigious recognition as the runner-up for Pub of the Year. This accolade stands as a testament to our commitment to providing a top-notch pub experience, and we are truly honored to have been acknowledged among the finest establishments in the region during that remarkable year.
Our History
Established in 1840, The Horse And Groom has a rich history as an ale house without a spirits license. Originally one of four pubs on Chobham High Street, it underwent a significant change in ownership in 1959 when Courage Brewery acquired it from Simonds Brewery. At that time, Courage Brewery possessed all four pubs along the high street. In 1960, the pub closed its doors, leading to its division into two separate buildings. These structures later transformed into a hairdresser and a NatWest bank.
Fast forward to 2020, The Horse and Groom embarked on a new chapter. Under new ownership, we revitalized the establishment, reclaiming its historic roots as a pub. Since then, we've been proudly serving the community and carrying forward the legacy of The Horse and Groom.

Outdoor extensions that bring patrons closer to nature while savouring their favourite craft brews.
The concept of an outdoor extension is not just about expanding the physical space; it's about creating an immersive experience that complements the essence of craft brewing. Our extension features Wooden tables, cosy gas heaters and fairy lights illuminating the space. This atmosphere becomes an extension of the micro pub's character, inviting patrons to enjoy their brews in a more relaxed and open setting.
At The Horse and Groom, we understand the importance of family. That's why our new outdoor extension is designed to cater to patrons of all ages. Bring the little ones along for a day of family-friendly fun! Our spacious outdoor area provides room for kids to play, ensuring that everyone can enjoy quality time together. To enhance the cosy ambiance of our outdoor haven, we've introduced a welcoming fire pit.
